Skinboosters Singapore

(Skinbooster treatments from $200)

As we grow older, our skin naturally loses hyaluronic acid (HA) and collagen that are responsible for smooth and hydrated skin. Without any active intervention, you will find that your skin begins to sag and fine lines become more prominent over time. To help combat this ageing process and to give you that youthful look, skinbooster treatments help to rejuvenate the skin from deep within.

What are skinboosters?

Skinboosters is an innovative technique of delivering hyaluronic acid (HA) into the skin. This technique involves injecting small amounts of HA via precise micro injections to enhance hydration levels from deep within the skin, achieving that glowing, radiant look.

Skinboosters contain stabilised hyaluronic acid meant to replace the lost hyaluronic acid to restore the skin’s elasticity, firmness, and smoothness.

HA can hold up to 1,000 times its molecular weight in water.

HA not only helps to improve hydration. Its many known benefits include improving collagen production, accelerating wound healing, reducing inflammation, and antioxidant functions.

Types of skinboosters in Singapore

There are a few skinboosters available in the market. Each skinbooster is unique in its own way and they are all equally effective.

Injectable boosters:

  • Restylane Vital/Vital Light
The first skinbooster in the market, Restylane Vital/Vital Light, are partially cross-linked HA chains containing up to 20mg/ml of HA per syringe.

Cross-linkages indicate how dense the HA chains are in the skinbooster. The more cross-linked the HA is, the longer the skinbooster effect lasts.

  • Teosyal Redensity I
Swiss-made Teosyal Redensity I (RDI) is a non-crosslinked skinbooster. Each syringe of RDI contains 15mg/ml of HA.

Despite being non-crosslinked, RDI is a popular skinbooster because it contains three highly powerful antioxidants, two minerals, one vitamin, and eight amino acids. All these components combined lend RDI its popularity and effectiveness in brightening the skin while providing hydration from within.

  • Juvederm Volite
Juvederm Volite is newer than the above two but has earned its spot in the market. Containing just 13mg/ml of cross-linked HA per syringe, Juvederm Volite only requires one treatment while the above two requires three. A single treatment can last you up to nine months, which makes it a perfect option for those who do not fancy downtime and injections.
  • Profhilo
Profhilo is a bio-modelling injectable skincare treatment that naturally stimulates
collagen, elastin and adipocytes (fats) stem cells to improve skin quality. It uses 100% pure hyaluronic acid to firm and light the skin while repairing tissue damage such as blemishes and acne scars.
  • Gouri PCL
Gouri PCL Skin Booster is a groundbreaking skincare product that has gained immense popularity in the world of beauty and wellness. This innovative formula harnesses the power of polycaprolactone (PCL), a biodegradable and biocompatible polymer, to rejuvenate and revitalize the skin. The PCL microspheres act as a scaffold, stimulating collagen production and cellular renewal, resulting in a firmer and more youthful complexion. Gouri PCL Skin Booster nourishes the skin, providing optimal hydration and promoting overall skin health. Its lightweight and non-greasy texture make it suitable for all skin types, ensuring that everyone can reap the benefits of this remarkable skin booster.

Other treatments worth mentioning include Rejuran Healer, UltraCol PDO, Tranexamic Acid, and Vitamin C.

Non-injectable skin boosters

Non-injectable skin boosters are minimally invasive but produce similar effects in improving skin quality, texture, tone and appearance. They include:

  • Rejuran Tone Up Booster
Consisting of two formulations, the Rejuran Tone Up booster strengthens the skin’s natural barrier and provides hydration. It also reduces hyperpigmentation and scarring for brighter and healthier skin.

  • NCTF136 HA Booster
Formulated with hyaluronic acid, amino acids, vitamins and minerals, NCTF gives the skin a healthy boost without adapting the facial structure. The treatment effectively smooths fine lines and wrinkles while nourishing deep into the skin to stimulate natural collagen and elastin production for well-hydrated, firm and glowing skin.

  • Neuraderm
Neuraderm is an anti-aging skincare treatment range that prevents and reduces the signs of aging (such as wrinkles and sagging skin), while improving skin tone. It also regenerates skin cells to encourage natural collagen production and hydration.

What areas can skinboosters treat?

Skinboosters can be used on the face, neck, lower neckline (décolletage) and body.

What is a treatment session like?

Before the treatment, you may be prescribed oral painkillers while a strong numbing cream is applied to the treatment area(s) for about 30 minutes. During the procedure, small deposits of HA are injected into the skin.

Post-treatment, there will be several bumps over the treated areas. A cream will be applied to assist in the recovery of the skin. Massaging the bumps will also help quicken the recovery process. These bumps will subside in about two days.

There may be some needle marks and bruising after the procedure which will typically recover after 5 to 7 days, but no other serious side effects are to be expected.

Are skinboosters painful?

Injections can be uncomfortable but the pain is minimised as much as possible with painkillers and a numbing cream applied prior to the treatment. Each injection should not hurt more than a tiny ant bite.

How soon can I see results?

Apart from Juvederm Volite that requires just one treatment, the remaining skinboosters require at least three sessions, with a 1-month interval in between each session.

As the skin is a dynamic, living organ, maintenance treatment once every six to 12 months is recommended.
